Multi-currency net worth tracker

Your net worth, across countries and currencies.

Bring accounts, pensions, property and debts into one reporting currency. Start with manual balances, connect supported accounts if you need Premium, and know what to check next month.

Standard manual records in one consistent currency are free. Premium costs €5/month for ongoing records across currencies and supported bank connections. Check the plan limits and your institution before paying.

One review, then the next

This fictional GBP/EUR household has cash, a pension, a home and a mortgage. The rates are fixed illustrations, not market quotes. The example is a calculation you can reproduce, not a customer result or an app screenshot.

1 August: GBP 1 = EUR 1.2

1 September: GBP 1 = EUR 1.18

Keep original balances alongside the converted total
Account August balance August in EUR September balance September in EUR
UK cash GBP 12000 14400 GBP 12500 14750
UK pension GBP 30000 36000 GBP 30000 35400
Euro savings EUR 10000 10000 EUR 10000 10000
Home EUR 240000 240000 EUR 240000 240000
Mortgage EUR -150000 -150000 EUR -150000 -150000
Net worth in EUR 150400 150150

Why did net worth fall when cash increased?

UK cash rose by GBP 500. At the first rate, that adds EUR 600. The second review has GBP 42,500 in cash and pension balances; converting that amount at 1.18 instead of 1.20 removes EUR 850. Together: EUR 600 − EUR 850 = EUR −250.

The new total is EUR 150,150. This split applies the old rate to balance changes first, then the rate change to the new balances. It explains this example's arithmetic; it does not measure investment performance, realized FX profit or taxable gains.

What needs checking before the next review?
  • UK cash: Updated from the next statement.
  • UK pension: Same original balance; a different EUR value.
  • Euro savings: Verified unchanged for this fictional review.
  • Home: Prior estimate retained; no new valuation assumed.
  • Mortgage: Debt is subtracted, not counted as an asset.

Keep each statement or valuation date in your own review notes. In a real portfolio, use the latest available debt balance and mark older valuations clearly. The home's full value and its mortgage appear separately; do not also add home equity.

The home and pension are part of total net worth, but may not be available for near-term spending. The FIRE balance-sheet worksheet helps you keep those questions separate.

Download the fictional balances and calculation checks (JSON). No email or account required. The separate product demo uses its own data and exchange rates, so its totals will differ.

Set up a record you can review again

  1. Start with one account in its original currency. Use the amount on your statement. A first saved account is a start, not your complete net worth.
  2. Add the rest of what you own and owe. Include pensions, property and debts. Keep valuation dates in your own notes; do not present an old property estimate as a fresh market price.
  3. Choose one reporting currency and reconcile. Check the direction of conversion and assets minus debts. If the total differs from your records, inspect debt signs, stale balances and duplicate entries before relying on it.
  4. Keep a dated record and choose your next review. Retain your statements and exported history. On the next review, update or explicitly verify each balance and compare the resulting total. A login or background bank sync alone is not a review.

Preserve your own dated reference if you need an exact historical FX valuation. This page does not promise that every historical chart uses locked snapshot-date rates. The worked example uses fixed rates so you can audit the arithmetic independently.

Manual tracking without bank connections

Enter account and asset balances yourself. Standard supports records in one consistent currency. Use Premium for ongoing updates across original currencies, including unsupported pensions or overseas accounts. You remain responsible for checking amounts and keeping them current.

Optional Premium connections

Premium adds supported institution connections through the available providers. Availability varies by country, institution and account type. A bank appearing in a directory does not guarantee that your pension, brokerage or particular account will sync.

Before upgrading, check each important account in the connection flow. Decide whether the remaining manual updates are acceptable. Do not count the same account once manually and again through a connection.

Sharing with a partner? The verified encrypted-vault workflow requires Premium for both people: €10/month total. Read the sharing requirements.

Choose by the job you need to repeat

PopaDex or your spreadsheet

Try PopaDex when a saved cross-currency balance sheet and optional supported connections solve the work you want to reduce. Keep your spreadsheet if custom formulas and your current review process already suit you. There is no need to switch just to change the dashboard.

For transaction budgeting across currencies, inspect PocketSmith's documented workflow. If specialist assets or portfolio-performance analysis matter most, compare Kubera against those requirements. Multi-currency support alone is not a reason to choose PopaDex.

Questions before you start

Can I track GBP and EUR accounts without linking a bank?

Yes, using Premium for ongoing records across original currencies. Standard supports free manual records in one consistent currency; its initial foreign-account setup exception does not include subsequent cross-currency updates. You do not need to connect a bank. Check the converted total against your own records.

Does multi-currency support mean my overseas bank will connect?

No. Currency conversion and bank connectivity are separate. Premium connections depend on your institution, country and account type. Check your exact account before paying and enter unsupported balances manually.

Why can my net worth change when I have not spent or saved anything?

A change in the exchange rate changes the reporting-currency value of a foreign balance. Compare original balances and rates separately. The worked example also shows how extra GBP cash can coincide with a lower EUR total.

Can I import my whole spreadsheet or another app's history?

Do not assume that. PopaDex's monthly-balance CSV workflow expects a specific format, not an arbitrary Excel workbook, Google Sheet or transaction export. Keep an untouched backup, test a small sample and reconcile it before moving more history.

What should I do at the next monthly review?

Update or explicitly verify balances, keep statement and valuation dates in your own notes, check the converted total, and retain a dated record. Identify stale amounts and duplicated accounts. A login or background sync alone does not complete that review.

What is free, and what costs money?

Standard manual records in one consistent currency are free. Premium costs EUR 5 per month and includes ongoing records across currencies and supported bank connections. The verified couples-sharing workflow requires two Premium subscriptions and enabled encrypted vaults, totaling EUR 10 per month. Use the actual checkout offer; no general free trial is promised here.
