Monarch is a polished paid finance app with strong household budgeting features. Consider PopaDex when the main problem is a dated net worth record across countries and currencies, with manual entries for property, pensions, and any account that is not supported by a connection.

Moving from Monarch when your finances cross borders
Try this before cancelling another subscription. The reason to switch is a better fit for your currencies and balance sheet, not the assumption that every finance app does the same job.
- Write down which Monarch workflows you use each month. If shared transaction budgeting is essential, keep it in the comparison; a net-worth-first dashboard may complement it rather than replace it.
- Export and retain your existing records using Monarch’s documented tools. Treat that export as your archive, not a file PopaDex is guaranteed to accept unchanged.
- Enter current balances manually in PopaDex, keeping their original currencies. Include overseas pensions, property and debts that a domestic bank feed may miss. Compare one base-currency total.
- Check your actual institutions and evaluate the free workflow before upgrading. Only retire the old setup after you can explain differences in balances, dates and exchange rates.

Monarch's official FAQ says the service is currently available only in the US and Canada and recommends connecting accounts in USD or CAD. Its pricing page lists U.S. annual Core and Plus plans and states that the 7-day trial requires a payment method; Monarch's billing FAQ says a subscription starts automatically at trial end unless cancelled at least 24 hours beforehand. Offers may change, so check the live page before subscribing. We have not tested a Monarch account or its connection flow.
