Export Your Portfolio History from PopaDex
Download the portfolio-history table from PopaDex as a CSV file, then verify the dates and totals before using it as an archive or for analysis.
PopaDex currently provides a CSV export of the historical balance table shown on your dashboard. Treat this as a portfolio-history export, not as a complete account backup.
What the CSV Contains
The download follows the table you can see in PopaDex:
- a date column;
- one column for each asset or account type in the table; and
- a total column.
The available dates and grouping follow the records and plan view in your account. Check the downloaded rows against the dashboard before relying on the file.
How to Export
- Sign in to PopaDex.
- Open the dashboard and find Historical balance.
- Select Export CSV.
- Open the downloaded
financial_records-YYYY-MM-DD.csvfile. - Compare several dates and totals with the dashboard, then store the file securely.
Important Limits
The current dashboard export is not:
- a transaction or spending-category export;
- a JSON or PDF account backup;
- a copy of bank credentials or connection tokens;
- an automated or emailed backup;
- a tax report; or
- a file that can be uploaded unchanged to recreate your PopaDex account.
PopaDex has a separate, narrow monthly CSV importer, but its required columns differ from the export. Keep the export as an archive and do not assume that export proves re-import compatibility. See the maintained migration compatibility matrix before planning a migration.
Encryption and File Security
For an encrypted dashboard, the browser builds the CSV from the financial records it has decrypted for the history table. The downloaded CSV itself is readable text and is not protected by the PopaDex encrypted vault.
After export:
- save it in a location you control;
- encrypt the file or its storage if you need protection at rest;
- avoid sending it through ordinary email; and
- delete extra copies when you no longer need them.
Using the Export
CSV files can be opened in spreadsheet software for your own analysis. Column layouts differ between finance products, so inspect and map fields before trying to use a PopaDex export elsewhere. PopaDex does not promise compatibility with another product’s importer.
If you need a regulated filing, tax calculation, transaction archive, or a full portability package, use the source records and a qualified professional or a product that explicitly documents that workflow.
FAQ
Does the export include transactions or categories?
No. It exports the portfolio-history table, not a transaction ledger.
Can I download JSON or PDF?
Those formats are not part of the verified dashboard export described here.
Can I import the downloaded file back into PopaDex?
Not unchanged. The export and the narrow monthly importer have different layouts.
Is the downloaded CSV encrypted?
No. Store and share it as sensitive financial information.
Does the export include bank credentials?
No. The portfolio-history CSV contains the displayed financial record values, not bank credentials.
