A practical overview of PopaDex manual tracking, multi-currency records, supported connections, pricing, exports, and browser-encryption limits.

How PopaDex Works

PopaDex is a net-worth tracker for people who need one record of cash, investments, property, pensions, debts, and accounts held in different places. You can enter records manually or, on Premium, use an optional connection where the exact institution and account type are supported.

The basic workflow

  1. Create an account and complete the security setup shown for your account.
  2. Add a manual account or check the live connection flow for a supported institution.
  3. Record a dated balance for each asset and liability.
  4. Review the combined net-worth result and reconcile material balances.
  5. Repeat the review on a consistent schedule so the history remains meaningful.

PopaDex does not initiate payments or trades. It is a record and review tool, not a bank, broker, tax adviser, or investment adviser.

Manual tracking

Manual records work for bank accounts, investments, property, pensions, private assets, cash, and liabilities. They are also the fallback when an institution or account type is not available through a connection.

Standard supports free manual records in one consistent currency. Ongoing records across original currencies require Premium; an initial-account exception does not make ongoing multi-currency recording part of Standard.

Manual records remain your responsibility. Keep a dated source statement and update estimates such as property values on a schedule that fits the asset.

Multi-currency records

Premium can retain ongoing records in their original currencies and provide a combined reporting view. The combined amount can move because an account balance changed, because an exchange rate changed, or both.

PopaDex does not promise a fixed rate source, refresh interval, or executable foreign-exchange quote on this page. Check balances and dates against the original institution before relying on a combined total. See the multi-currency setup guide for the review workflow.

Optional account connections

Connections require Premium and are conditional on the provider, country, institution, and account type offered in the live connection flow. Availability, authentication, refresh behaviour, and history can differ by institution.

Connect one account first and compare its balance, currency, and effective date with the institution’s own record. If it cannot be reconciled, keep that account manual. There is no blanket promise of named-bank coverage or a particular refresh frequency.

Dashboard and history

The dashboard brings saved assets and liabilities into a net-worth view. Dated records can show how the balance sheet changes over time. The quality of that history depends on complete records, consistent review dates, and correct currency and liability treatment.

Avoid double-counting an account that exists both manually and through a connection. Investigate large changes before treating them as progress.

Export and portability

Use the current account export guide for the supported export workflow and its limits. Keep independent copies of important statements and exports. An export is not proof that the same file can be imported back into PopaDex or into another product unchanged.

Security and privacy scope

Encryption-enabled forms encrypt account names, balances, and financial-record amounts in the browser. Operational metadata and connected-account integrations have different handling.

The current web implementation also has password-cache and recovery-code limitations, so PopaDex does not make a blanket zero-knowledge or server-compromise guarantee. Read how browser encryption works, the implementation notes, and password reset and recovery before adding sensitive data.
